Saeima introduces support measures to entrepreneurs  to compensate energy prices
On Thursday, 30 August, the Saeima adopted amendments to several laws, stipulating support measures to entrepreneurs in order to reduce the negative impact of the rising energy prices on the Latvian economy.

Marija Golubeva, Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the Saeima, during a visit to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, underlined that Ukraine’s place is in the family of European Union (EU) Member States. Together with other members of the U4U (“United for Ukraine”) parliamentary platform for the support of Ukraine, M.Golubeva signed a joint statement expressing strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, unity, territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, as well as its place in the EU.

Saeima adopts statement declaring Russia a state sponsor of terrorism
On Thursday, 11 August, the Saeima adopted a statement on Russia's targeted military attacks against civilians and public areas in Ukraine, recognising Russia's violence against civilians as terrorism and Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. The Saeima's statement calls on EU countries to immediately suspend the issuance of tourist and entry visas to Russian and Belarusian citizens.

On Tuesday, 2 August, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima adopted a statement on Russia's targeted military attacks against civilians and public areas in Ukraine, recognising Russia's violence against civilians as terrorism and Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. The statement of the Committee calls on EU countries to immediately suspend the issuance of tourist and entry visas to Russian and Belarusian citizens.

The international community must actively engage in Ukraine’s reconstruction process, and the United Nations can play an important role in it, said Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece, on Thursday, 21 July, meeting with Abdulla Shahid, President of the 76th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives.
