Saeima strongly condemns the military aggression and wide-scale invasion by Russia into Ukraine
On Thursday, 24 February, the Saeima adopted a Statement on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, strongly condemning the military aggression and wide-scale invasion by the Russian Federation into Ukraine. The Statement also strongly condemns the participation of Belarus in the military attack against Ukraine.
Members of the European Affairs Committee express their support for Ukraine
On Wednesday, 23 February, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented a report on the situation in Ukraine during a meeting of the European Affairs Committee. The Committee members expressed their support for Ukraine, its sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Presidium of the Baltic Assembly: Russia's decision is an attack on the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine
The Presidium of the Baltic Assembly firmly condemns the decision taken by the President of the Russian Federation to recognise the independence of the self-declared “people’s republics” of Luhansk and Donetsk. According to the statement adopted by the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly on 22 February, this is yet another attack on the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as a gross violation of international law.

“Russia has attempted through various means to divide Europe, cause fear in the European public and threaten several European countries. Such countries as Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, and the Baltic States face disinformation, cyber-attacks, various threats, and other means of aggression by Russia daily, and need the support of the European Union and its leaders more than ever. Saeima adopts law on compensating Latvia’s Jewish community for the property unclaimed during the restitution period
On Thursday, 10 February, the Saeima adopted in the final reading the Law on good‑will reimbursement to the Jewish community in Latvia. The Law provides for partial compensation of the cadastral value—determined by the state—of the property unclaimed during the restitution period.

On Tuesday, 8 February, Members of the Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee met with Senator Bogdan Klich, Chair of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. During the meeting, both parties signed a joint statement on the security situation in Europe, expressing support for Ukraine and condemning Russia’s aggression.
