Saeima to allow catering services outdoors from 7 May
On Thursday, 29 April, the Saeima in the second and final reading supported urgent amendments to the Law on the Management of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection, inter alia, allowing catering services in outdoor spaces from 7 May, as long as the epidemiological safety requirements established by the Cabinet of Ministers are observed.
Saeima in the third reading supports changes in procedure for issuing broadcasting permits
On Thursday, April 29, the Saeima adopted amendments to the Electronic Media Law, stipulating the right for the National Electronic Media Council (NEPLP) when issuing a broadcasting authorisation, to evaluate the activity of electronic media during the term of the prior broadcasting authorisation, and where appropriate, to refuse broadcasting authorisation.
In solidarity with the Czech Republic, the Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee calls for a strong EU and NATO response to the criminal activities of Russia's intelligence services
On Friday, 23 April, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima adopted a statement on solidarity with the Czech Republic, in which it calls on the member states of the European Union (EU) and NATO to agree on coordinated action to respond strongly to the destructive actions of the Russian intelligence services against the interests and security of the EU and NATO member states and to take appropriate response measures.
Foreign Affairs Committee issues a statement condemning Russia's increased military presence near Ukraine's borders
On Wednesday, 21 April, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima adopted a statement on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, condemning the significant Russian military build-up near the border between Russia and Ukraine and in the occupied Crimean peninsula, as well as the increased activity of armed militias in the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk "people's republics," thus heightening security threats in the region.

UK citizens granted extended term of residence in Latvia after Brexit

European Affairs Committee supports EU-wide Digital Green Certificate
On Wednesday, 14 April, members of the European Affairs Committee of the Saeima met with Latvian MEPs to discuss and adopt the position prepared by the Ministry of Health regarding the Digital Green Certificate of the European Union (EU). The Certificate will facilitate safe, free movement within the EU during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

On Thursday, 25 March, the Saeima adopted in the second and final reading urgent amendments to the Law on the Management of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection, so that even after the state of emergency ends there is a legal framework protecting the public from the rapid spread of COVID-19.
