The Saeima will hold a seminar on the role of parliamentarians in implementing and monitoring the Istanbul Convention
In order to discuss and learn about the experience of other countries in implementing the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combatting Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (the Istanbul Convention) an international seminar "From Policies to Results: the Role of Parliamentarians in Implementing and Monitoring the Istanbul Convention” will be held at the Saeima on 11 June. It is organised by the parliament and the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
The Saeima will host a forum on national and international security in the shadow of partnership between aggressor states
In order to discuss the challenges posed to national and international security by the increasing mutual cooperation between aggressor states, an international forum “Exploring the Emerging Axis: Iran-Russia Cooperation and Implications for Israel, Latvia, the Baltics and Europe” will be held at the Saeima on Monday, 10 June. The forum is organised by the Saeima in cooperation with the European Leadership Network (ELNET).
Separating the areas of nature and environmental protection, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development renamed to Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development from 1 July
On Thursday, 6 June, the Saeima adopted in the final reading amendments to the Cabinet Structure Law in order to reorganise the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MoEPRD) and the Ministry of Climate and Energy (MoCE). The changes provide that MoEPRD will be called the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development (MoSARD) as of 1 July.
Increased punishment for violence against family members
The punishment for violence against family members will become more severe. Also, increased penalties for a range of other violent crimes as well as cruelty to animals have been adopted. This is provided for by the amendments to the Criminal Law adopted by the Saeima on Thursday, 6 June.
Law adopted on protection and development of World War II memorial site in Lestene
In order to preserve, maintain and develop the memorial site of the World War II in Lestene, the Saeima adopted in the third reading a new law on Thursday, 6 June. The aim of the law is to identify and remember historical events, strengthen the historical memory of the society and promote a fact-based understanding of the events in the occupied territory of Latvia in the vicinity of Lestene during the Second World War, during which the occupying countries - the Soviet Union and Germany - illegally involved the inhabitants of Latvia in their military formations.
Interest payment compensations to include mortgage borrowers of credit institutions in liquidation
On Thursday, 30 May, the Saeima adopted in the second and final reading second – final – reading amendments to the Consumer Rights Protection Law, stipulating that also mortgage borrowers of credit institutions in liquidation will be compensated for the total interest payments on the loans in the amount of 30 per cent. 
Young adults studying abroad eligible to receive maintenance from the state
On Thursday, 30 May, the Saeima adopted in the final reading amendments to the Maintenance Guarantee Fund Law, enabling young adults of legal age studying abroad to receive maintenance from the state if parents do not pay it. 
Apartment building maintenance to be decided in a reconvened  general meeting
On Thursday, 30 May, the Saeima adopted in the final reading amendments to the Law on Residential Properties in order to promote the renovation and proper maintenance of apartment buildings. They provide an opportunity for apartment owners to decide on issues important to the house even if a part of the residents does not engage in solving these issues. 
Moscow House sales revenues earmarked to support Ukraine
On Thursday, 30 May,  the Saeima adopted in the final reading amendments to the Law on the Handling of Real Estate to Prevent Threats to National Security and amendments to the Law on Assistance to Ukrainian Civilians in order to allow the state to transfer the acquired money to Ukraine after the sale of the Moscow House. 
Incomplete register of first-time shareholders to be accepted
On Thursday, 30 May, the Saeima adopted in the second and final reading urgent amendments to the Commercial Law, according to which in cases where the joint stock company does not have all the current data on the shareholder, it will be allowed to submit an incompletely completed first-time shareholder register to the Register of Enterprises.
