On Thursday, 29 November, the Saeima in the third and final reading adopted amendments to the Road Traffic Law which envisage that the new vehicles will have to undergo their first technical inspection within two years after their registration.
These amendments apply to automobiles, trailers weighing not more than 3,500 kilograms, motorcycles, tricycles and quads. At present, the new vehicles have to undergo their first technical inspection within five days after their registration.
According to these amendments passed by the Saeima, motorcycles, tricycles and quads will have to undergo regular technical inspection once every two years instead of annually.
Amendments to the Law will take effect on 1 January 2013.
