On Thursday, 11 August, the Saeima adopted a statement on Russia's targeted military attacks against civilians and public areas in Ukraine, recognising Russia's violence against civilians as terrorism and Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. The Saeima's statement calls on EU countries to immediately suspend the issuance of tourist and entry visas to Russian and Belarusian citizens.

"As neighbours of aggressor state Russia, we welcome and appreciate Finland's decision to join NATO," said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Marja Riitta Korpivaara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Republic of Latvia, who paid her farewell call to the Parliament of Latvia on Wednesday, 10 August. 

"We highly appreciate Norway’s contribution to the close cooperation within the Baltic and Nordic—the NB8—format," said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Kristian Ødegaard, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Latvia, who paid his farewell call to the Parliament of Latvia on 10 August. 

"Security has become the main item on our bilateral agenda. We are grateful for Canada’s contribution and leadership in strengthening the security of the Baltic region, and especially for taking the lead as a framework nation of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) battle group in Latvia," said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Kevin Rex, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Latvia, on 10 August. The Ambassador paid his farewell call to the Parliament of Latvia. 

On Tuesday, 2 August, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima adopted a statement on Russia's targeted military attacks against civilians and public areas in Ukraine, recognising Russia's violence against civilians as terrorism and Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. The statement of the Committee calls on EU countries to immediately suspend the issuance of tourist and entry visas to Russian and Belarusian citizens.

The desecration of the graves of Polish soldiers in Belarus is a reprehensible act that contradicts a whole series of treaties on respect for the rights of national minorities at international, regional and bilateral level. The international community must actively engage in Ukraine’s reconstruction process, and the United Nations can play an important role in it, said Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece, on Thursday, 21 July, meeting with Abdulla Shahid, President of the 76th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives.

“Latvia and Estonia share a common history and similar values and interests. We need to continue moving forward together and keep strengthening the cooperation of our countries,” said Dagmāra Beitnere‑Le Galla, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, on Thursday, 21 July, during the meeting with Arti Hilpus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Latvia. The Ambassador came to the Parliament to pay a farewell visit.

We are allies, and by joining our efforts we can also overcome the political challenges within our countries caused by Russia’s was in Ukraine. Helping the war refugees, fighting the influence of the Kremlin propaganda on the society, searching for solutions to economic and energy sector shocks-the entire Europe is facing these internal challenges, stated Inese Lībiņa‑Egnere, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, on Wednesday, 20 July, during the meeting with the delegation of the Landtag of the State of Hesse at the Saeima.

On Thursday, 14 July, the Saeima supported Draft Laws ratifying the protocols on the accession of the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
