With deep sadness, we announce the passing of the Member of Saeima, long-time diplomat and politician Mr Ojārs Ēriks Kalniņš.
Mr Ojārs Ēriks Kalniņš was a parliamentarian during the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th convocations of the Saeima. He was actively involved in foreign affairs, chairing the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima during several convocations and serving as the Head of the Latvian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He had also served as a member of the European Affairs Committee and the Public Expenditure and Audit Committee of the Saeima.
He will always be remembered by his peers as a professional and intelligent colleague, a patriot of Latvia, and simply as a warm-hearted human being.
