(13.01.2015.)

Organisational and technical duties will be assigned to 19 volunteers who applied to assist in the hosting the parliamentary dimension events of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The youths who applied as volunteers say they are motived by the possibility to acquire experience in organising international events, to use and improve their foreign language skills, to learn more about political and international relations, as well as to work in a demanding and intense environment.

Volunteers will be tasked with escorting delegations, registration of delegates and providing assistance at the hotels, as well as contribute to a smooth course of meetings and conferences.

This week specialised training will be organised to ensure that the volunteers are sufficiently prepared for their tasks. The trainees will be given detailed instructions about their duties, as well as a general overview about the Latvian Presidency and the interparliamentary events to be held in Riga. Furthermore, they will undergo basic training in protocol and etiquette.

The first task assigned to the volunteers will be packaging of parliamentary gifts that will be presented to the visiting delegates.

The one-day training will be held on Friday, 16 January.
