On Friday, 26 June 2015, Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, awarded certificates of merit to supporters of the Latvian presidency of the Council of the European Union.
At the event held in the main building of the Saeima, Speaker Mūrniece expressed gratitude to the domestic and foreign enterprises that had provided pro bono goods and services for the Latvian Presidency.
“Today I have the opportunity to express my gratitude to you – representatives of foreign embassies in Latvia, as well as entrepreneurs. This experience will not only enrich the portfolio of the organisations and enterprises that you represent but also fortify your confidence. This complex exercise of preparing and conducting the Latvian Presidency has strengthened diplomats’ confidence in their ability to provide excellent support, while for Latvian enterprises it has reinforced their confidence in what they do and the country they represent. Together we have completed a difficult but rewarding task that has given a great boost to our country’s reputation”, said Mūrniece in her address.
The awarding ceremony was co-hosted by Kristīne Pommere, Director of the Secretariat of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
