Locally Produced Souvenirs of the Latvian Presidency for Parliamentary Guests

(23.01.2015.)

Guests of the Saeima attending the interparliamentary events of the Latvian Presidency in Riga will receive recordings of Latvian songs, as well as jewellery, sweets, beverages and designer items produced in Latvia.
In order to promote Latvian design, the souvenir producers were chosen from among new small local enterprises and designers who have put a modern face on traditional Latvian arts, music and products.

Cufflinks and earrings featuring the Latvian Presidency’s logo are designed by the Špate sisters from Valmiera city, while paper windmills with blades in the colours of the flags of EU member states are produced by designer Rihards Funts.

Participants of the interparliamentary events will also be presented with chocolate truffles made of Latvian berries and dried fruit by Ilze Garanča, fortified birch sap produced by Liberts, as well as dried cranberries by Rāmkalni company.

Guests of the Saeima will receive a disc containing a collection of songs performed by the choir of disabled youths Nāc līdzās!, as well as a collection of Latvian folk songs arranged by 17 foreign composers performed by youth choir Kamēr...

The interparliamentary events held within the framework of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will be attended by approximately one thousand parliamentarians from across Europe. During the Latvian Presidency, the Saeima will hold six events - five in Riga and one in Brussels organised jointly with the European Parliament. The first event, which will take place on 1–2 February, will gather the chairpersons of the European affairs committees of the parliaments of the EU.
