On 24-27 May Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, will be on a working visit to Tbilisi, Georgia, to participate in the ceremonial events in honour of the 25th anniversary of Georgia’s independence, as well as to meet with high-level officials.
Furthermore, Speaker Mūrniece will attend a conference on international security and defence to discuss security challenges faced by small countries.
During the visit Speaker Mūrniece will meet with the following high-level Georgian officials: Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of the State; David Usupashvili, Speaker of the Parliament; Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister; and Mikheil Janelidze, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Speaker Mūrniece also plans to meet with Ilia II, Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Georgia.
Speaker Mūrniece will also attend the oath of enlistment ceremony held by the Armed Forces of Georgia in Tbilisi.
The Speaker’s agenda also includes a visit to the Embassy of Latvia to Georgia, as well as a meeting with representatives of the Latvian diaspora.
The Speaker of the Saeima will be accompanied by Elita Gavele, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Georgia.
