Speaker Ināra Mūrniece
Professional experience
Ināra Mūrniece represents the National Alliance "All For Latvia!" – "For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK", and she was elected in the 11th, 12th and 13th convocation of the Saeima.
From 2011 until 2014, Ināra Mūrniece was the Chairperson of the Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee of the 11th Saeima.
On 4 November 2014 she was elected as the Speaker of the 12th Saeima.
On 6 November 2018 she was elected as the Speaker of the 13th Saeima.
Before becoming a politician, for 16 years Ināra Mūrniece worked as a journalist in the largest daily newspaper – Latvijas Avīze, mainly covering domestic and foreign political affairs.
In 2009, Ināra Mūrniece graduated from the Faculty of Modern Languages of the University of Latvia, obtaining a degree in translation. In 2007, she obtained a professional bachelor’s degree in translating and interpreting at the University College of Economics and Culture. She has also studied Latvian language and literature at the University of Latvia.
Ināra Mūrniece was born on 30 December 1970.
