Speaker Ināra Mūrniece

Professional experience

Ināra Mūrniece  represents the National Alliance "All For Latvia!" – "For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK", and she was elected in the 11^th, 12^th and 13^th convocation of the Saeima.

From 2011 until 2014, Ināra Mūrniece was the Chairperson of the Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee of the 11^th Saeima.
On 4 November 2014 she was elected as the Speaker of the 12^th Saeima.
On 6 November 2018 she was elected as the Speaker of the 13^th Saeima.

Before becoming a politician, for 16 years Ināra Mūrniece worked as a journalist in the largest daily newspaper – Latvijas Avīze, mainly covering domestic and foreign political affairs.

In 2009, Ināra Mūrniece graduated from the Faculty of Modern Languages of the University of Latvia, obtaining a degree in translation. In 2007, she obtained a professional bachelor’s degree in translating and interpreting at the University College of Economics and Culture. She has also studied Latvian language and literature at the University of Latvia.

Ināra Mūrniece was born on 30 December 1970.
