Parliamentary inquiry committees
The Saeima may appoint a parliamentary inquiry committee from among members of parliament in order to undertake specific assignments. A request by at least one-third of MPs is necessary for its appointment.
Each parliamentary inquiry committee exists for the period of time that is indicated in the proposal to establish it. Unless a definite term is specified, the parliamentary investigative committee functions for three months. The Saeima has the right to extend the committee’s term of functioning.
